Today is the day….

Wow.. So… The last time I travelled any kind of distance by myself was in 2017 when I went to London for BlogCon.

Since then I have lived as a hermit (standard for me) very rarely left. The house for anything other than going to work, seeing my best friend twice a week and going to see my family. So when my friend invited me to Lincoln for her birthday I was glad. She
invited me and immediately said yes, however, the niggling anxiety demon reared its ugly head.

The days and weeks passed from when she had invited me and we. Started planning it all. I booked time off work, planned outfits, booked day off slimming world on my 12 week course and I was ready.

What I haven’t mentioned is that there will be 10 of us meeting up. For Sophie’s birthday bash. We are all staying at her house and despite being excited about finally meeting a group of women I get along with so well.. We have never met before in person.. Yep.. The bunch of beauts I’m meeting have only been online friends until now. ( If travelling alone wasn’t scary enough)

Finally we are here… Today is the day that I get to meet the beauts I’ve been spending hours on video call chatting with and doing makeups (yes that’s a thing.. Lol) Lincoln here I come… I’m absolutely crapping my pants but I’m so excited to push myself out of my comfort zone and spend the weekend with some amazing women.

Wish me luck. X

Can I Get a Woo Woo??

So I have not done this kind of thing for a while so bare with me whilst I get my feet again with the whole blogging malarkey :).. but I am back blogging again and I will be honest, it does feel very strange to sit down at my new desk and write.
I am back doing reviews, however , I will be incorporating more beauty and makeup related content on to my blog. So here I am with my first review.
Now I am a stickler for only using brands I have heard of when it comes to intimate self care products. So when I got the email asking if I wanted to review these products I was honestly a bit dubious about venturing out in to a using a brand I didn’t know, however, I am all about trying new things lately so why not try some new products??
Woo Woo is a brand that wanted to provide products that made women feel confident inside and out. Their aim is to offer a range of products that will make women feel more comfortable in the skin and break the taboo of talking about feminine hygiene.

I was kindly gifted the Woo Woo wipes and the Woo Woo Tame It gel to try out. I have honestly never used any kind of fraganced wipes as I was always told that fragrance can mess with your PH balance and I am not about that thrush life but these are PH balanced wipes.
I received the Cranberry and Aloe Vera wipes and i can honestly say I think I have been converted. It may sound strange but they really do make everything feel more fresh and clean. The scent is not too overpowering and they do make you feel fresh. I will definitely be going out and purchasing myself some of these in different scents. I was left feeling fresh and clean and the best bit is that they don’t affect you PH balance. You can use these without any worries whatsoever.

You ladies will understand how crappy and groggy you can feel when it’s that time of the month but I honestly felt that I using these wipes helped me feel more refreshed and who doesn’t want that?!
The in shower hair removal cream is good but I will say it does have a very strong smell, which I am not a fan a of if I am being completely honest. It does work very well and unlike some other creams I have used it leaves the skin feeling soft. I have sensitive skin and I didn’t have any problems with this. I would recommend if you are looking for a more natural hair removal cream.

2019.. The year of changes?

Wow.. So.. Looking back at my last posts is so strange! I have been offline and out of the blogging community for a good while. There are a number of reasons for this, and they also link in with some of the changes that are coming for my vlog over the next year.
One of the things I struggled with was my time management. This was heavily affected by my mental health struggles and I just lost all motivation and creativity.
Another reason I took a step back is because I was struggling to find where I fit in. I love beauty and makeup, but I also loved books,. Films and TV. Doing reviews on what I had read and seen was something I really enjoyed, however, it did feel strange putting everything all on one blog…. But on the other hand.. My following wasn’t really bug enough to split them…. I hit a wall…do I write about beauty? Mental health? Reviews? Can they all fit on one blog or would I have to sacrifice.writing about one of the things I enjoyed.
I qualified as a Makeup Artist at the end of 2017 but I felt like I still wasn’t good enough to compete in the world of beauty.. Especially when I’m also a plus size lady. I am still not 100% confident in myself so at the moment i just do makeup lives, YouTube Videos and Pictures for Instagram.

So for 2019 my aims are:

  • Practice more self care ( using headspace )
  • Focus more on spending my spare time with my family and friends doing things I enjoy
  • Take better care of myself and eat healthier and start working out again
  • Spend more time on my Blog and YouTube Channel

I have made these my aims or goals for 2019 rather than naming then New years Resolutions as I feel that New Years Resolutions are a bit of a fad and these changes are things I want to implement permanently in to my life going forward.
I will hopefully still be doing my good old fashioned rambling reviews but I will also be focusing more on beauty as well.
I hope you enjoy the newer content and i’m hoping it will encourage different people to read my blog.

What are your 2019 goals?

As always.. and this will never change.. Be Kind, Be Happy and Stay True to You!

Where Have I Been and What Have I Been Up To..?? Plans for 2018

Hey Guys, Welcome back to another blog post. Now I haven’t posted anything personal on here for a while. I have done a few reviews on books and products but I haven’t really been that active on social media in general for a few months.

I have definitely noticed a lack of interaction and engagement across all my socials now that I am back but that is to be expected given my quite lengthy absence. When you are away it is definitely very apparent who is genuinely interested in your well being and who isn’t. That goes for social media as well as out in the real world.

So where have I been?

So, what has been going on with me?? Well, I got lost in a job I was not happy in, working 6 day weeks sometimes and by the time I got home I just had no motivation or energy to do anything. I was struggling a lot with my mood and it had an effect on my weight and drive to connect with people was lost. The only people I saw or really spoke to outside work were my family and my best friend. I knew that that was not healthy and wasn’t the best way to deal with the problems I was having but the old me took over and i just stayed in denial about everything.

As i stressed about work and being generally unhappy with my increasing weight and life in general I lost interested in everything I loved doing, reading, blogging, makeup, general everyday litte things.

I started doing a level 3 diploma in Makeup Artistry and i felt a bit happier. I met some awesome women and we had such a fun time on the course, however I was still unhappy in most other aspects of my life.

In October I lost my job, which I thought would be the worst thing to happen but it turned out to be the best thing. A few weeks after I lost my job I joined Slimming world and decided that I would spend more time on myself, get back in to blogging, crafting and reading and try to start enjoying life again.

What have i got planned for 2018?

I am so pleased to say that as of Saturday 13th January I have lost 3 Stone!! .. In 11 weeks I have made more progress than I have done in the past 2 years and I am really proud of myself. It is not all plain sailing. I am struggling to find work as a Makeup Artist, which is what I want to do full time. I am struggling to find work in general. It is so frustrating because I know I have the drive and passion, I just need a chance to showcase what I have.

In 2018 I really want to be more consistent with my blog, my new YouTube Channel and my socials as I do really enjoy chatting to new people, engaging in conversations with people from different areas, and with people who have different types of blogs. I will also be focusing more on mental health blog posts, as well as beauty and more lifestyle how to’s rather than just reviews.

I am going to spend time trying to build my portfolio of makeup looks. It is difficult to stand out on social media with such a small following but I am going to push myself and try my best. Whilst I try and build my socials etc I will still be trying to look for more customer service and admin work until that takes off. I know that that may seem like a backwards way of working but seriously, being unemployed is killing me and at the moment and I need something to sustain me financially whilst I build my makeup portfolio if that makes sense?

I also need to work on my mental health. I am still on medication, which levels me out but I would like to try and come off them this year. I think as I lose more weight, get more confidence and practice self care that will happen.

At the end of October, beginning of November I started my own Youtube Channel and as of today I have 92 Subscribers, which may not seem like a lot but it is a huge thing for me. Putting myself out there is a big thing for me but to do on through videos, sitting in front of a camera is just MASSIVE. If any of you would be interested in following my weight loss journey, mixed in with some beauty stuff then please had over and subscribe. I will also be doing more videos around Mental Health. I received a pack from Time To Change recently and will be doing another post on the Time To Talk Campaign so keep your eyes peeled for that.

So that is my life update… What are your goals for 2018?

I would love to hear from you guys. Let’s get a discussion going 🙂

Until next time Be Kind Be Happy and Stay True to You

FSJ Shoes for you. Don’t miss out

Hey Guys,

Welcome back, or welcome if you are new.  Today I am just going to be sharing my views on a new website I came across when looking for new shoes. The website is really easy to navigate, which is always a bonus for me as I don’t hve the time to mess about trying to navigate websites when shopping online.

I do have to say that these are not the cheapest shoes but they are great. You pay that little bit extra for the quality. FSJ have a wide variety of shoes that definitely will take you out of your comfort zone if you are the mind of person who just generally goes for basic comfy footwear ( like me).

Mostly, I wear flats but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and I though I would share a few things that I came across on the website that are now on my “To Buy” list.

First up we have the GORGEOUS Night Sky Mules!.. I mean come on.. How pretty are these.

Next up.. for those who like a bit more Sass no your shoes then leopard print might be more your thing.

My favourite of them all is the D’orsay Pumps.. They have the sassy leopard print but have a slightly smaller heel. I would definitely wear these to the office. I would definitely go more basic on top with a white blouse, black skirt and black tights if I were to wear these to work.

leopard print

Last but certainly not least. For all you ladies that love a good stiletto. FSJ have a huge range to choose from.

My favourite pair are the Navy Stiletto heels with an open toe. Absolutely stunning. They would be great for a night out.

FSJ do ship internationally and shipping costs will differ depending on where you live so just be aware of that when placing your order. The delivery costs will be shown once you enter in your shipping information.

And that is it from me for today 🙂 If you do go out and purchase a pair please don’t forget to tag me! I would love to see what you choose.

As always please feel free to leave a comment.. get a conversation going!

Until next time. Be Kind, Be Happy and Stay True to You!

Female Entrepreneur Week.. Are You One of the FEW??

FEW pin-2

Hey there my lovelies I hope you are all feeling good this morning.

As some of you are aware Female Entrepreneur Week started on 21st June so yes.. I am a bit late in publishing this but it is still within time so it’s all good.

Female Entrepreneur Week lasts for 10 days from 21st to 30th June.

I think sharing the love on this topic is so important. I see it far too much on social media these days where women are bringing each other down and I personally believe that we should be building each other up and FEW is a great time to really push this forward.

I love these quotes and I feel these are definitely things to think about if you are wanting to branch out and start your own business.

Dealspotr. What is it and how does it work?

Hey Guys,

Welcome back! I hope you have all had a great month so far. So today is a slightly different type of review!. Today I will be reviewing a website called Dealspotr.

I love a good bargain and I am slowly turning in to a coupon lady but gone are the days where you cut coupons out of magazines and take them in to the shop. Nowadays, as most things are, it is all done online.

How it works

You have to sign up but it really isn’t difficult or time consuming to do. You can choose what topics you prefer, such as food, beauty, DIY and crafts etc (maximum 4 topics) and as you can do on a lot of influence platforms, you can link to all your social media accounts.

To start with you have a chance to gain quite a few points. You gain points for linking to and confirming your blog by adding a badge and you receive a points for the first list of tasks you complete. Each day after this,  you have a set amount of tasks to complete. If all daily tasks are completed you are given 200 points. Once you have reached 10,00 points for the first time this entitles you to a $10 Amazon gift card. Once this has been claimed the target changes to 20,000 in order to gain your next Gift Card.

On your profile you have a dashboard Where you can view all your notifications, actions taken and what points you received for each action. There is also a progression bar, which shows you how close you are to receiving your next Amazon voucher.

There are so many tools available to help you including an forums where you can interact with other influences, find answers to questions you have and share your favourite deals.

There are different influencer levels and full details of what is required for each level is listed under the “influencer tools” section of your account so you can always see what you have completed and what is left to complete to reach each level.

How it differs from other sites

As I have said I like to find good deals and when I search on google for coupons I always find that I am sent to expired deals, or those websites that clearly just get paid for the amount of traffic that goes through the site, the coupons don’t work or take you to a spam site.  It gets tiring after a while and I used to just give up on trying to find good deals, whereas now I log on to one site and I can just search on a trusted site.

  • Easy to navigate the website
  • great incentive – with a bit of effort you can make a decent amount of extra cash from it.
  • You can follow people who have posted deals you trust and have validated.
  • You can share deals across all social media platforms.
  • I haven’t come across a deal that doesn’t work yet or has expired before the date advised.
  • You don’t have to be the highest level influencer to Receive the best deals.

  • It is all in dollars – can only use the Gift Cards on
  • Can be difficult to find UK deals
  • Cannot withdraw funds to PayPal until you are a Trusted Influencer.
  • If your deal isn’t accurate you lose marks (anything below -20 means you can no longer post deals or validate others)
  • Not as many UK deals.

Overall I think Dealspotr is a great idea. If you are the type of person who has the patience to go looking for good deals and great ways to save money this a great site that has a wide range of products at your finger tips. All you have to do is sit down and take the time to look.

As a person who posts deals I do think the validation process is quite harsh  at times if I am honest. You do get told why your deal has lost points when your deal is being validated, however, personally I think if the deal works those points shouldn’t be taken off you.  For example, I lost accuracy points because of a typo ( I wrote os instead of is on one of my deals) and on the other it stated I had omitted some information, however when checking the deal I couldn’t find any information that had been omitted. You do need to ensure you thoroughly check your deals before submitting them to avoid losing these points.

In my cons section I did put that there weren’t many UK deals, which is true but I do feel the more this is advertised in the UK and the more influencers we can get using this website, the bigger and better it will become for providing deals in the UK. The reason why this is a con for me is because so many companies either don’t ship to the UK or charge high shipping prices to do so. In addition the likelihood is you will be hit with a big customs charge on top of shipping when it arrives in the UK, which defeats the object of having a deal 🙂

I would always recommend you do fully read the rules and guidelines. I know that this can be tedious and nobody likes rules but I do feel this is hugely important to ensure that you can get the best out of the website. They are easy to read and follow so just take the time to read them.

You do have to spend a bit of time adding your deals but it is worth it because at the end of the day you are getting paid to share your deals and Dealspotr is the only website that offers this to their members.

What sites do you use to get great deals and coupons??

Will you be going to check out Dealspotr?

leave your comments down below 🙂

Lets Talk: Stand Up For Girls

Hey Hey my lovelies and welcome back to another collab.

When I saw that The Children’s Society was looking for bloggers to share a post about this I could not wait to be involved. This is a subject that is so important to me and I think if we have a platform that we can use to help raise awareness of important issues then we should use it.

**Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. I will be sharing some personal experiences and some facts that could potentially be a trigger for some people so please bare this in mind before continuing as I want to share my message but I do not want to cause anybody any distress**

The Children’s Society’s Good Childhood Report 2016 uncovered some quite disturbing findings regarding how the feelings about appearance are affecting girl’s happiness. The report shows that whilst the happiness of boys remains the same the happiness of girls is decreasing.

Now I just want to put it out there that this is not saying that I feel girls have it harder than boys or anything because I have seen and read things in the past few years especially that has made my blood boil and brought a tear to my eye but this post is just about the most recent report that has been released.

The focus on appearance is not a new things!. It is something that has been going on for years and although this is no excuse to make others feel bad about themselves, if you grow up with that being more important than personality traits it is bound to affect you in one way or another. Trying to live up to what girls believe society expect does make you feel insecure. 1 in 7 girls  are unhappy with their lives overall based on the current report.

I have already shared a bit about my past and how it has affected me and I know that I am not the only person that has been through things like that but that does not make it okay. I didn’t get support from my teachers so I had to stand up for myself, and I made the mistake of not opening up to the people close to me that could have helped.

I was bullied a lot growing up, around my estate , in primary school but more so in secondary school for no reason other than one person in a group took a disliking to me or made a joke and it stuck. The thing is I was never overweight in school but I wasn’t typical pretty girl. I was loud, had frizzy hair and was very opinionated. I wasn’t sporty and I didn’t feel like I fit in anywhere.

No matter how different you are this does not give anyone the right to make you feel inferior. I went from loving school and being such a book worm to dreading going to school, harming myself and  hating the way I looked. Nobody should ever be made to feel like that. I have struggled with anxiety and depression for a long time and if I had any advice for any girl out there who is being bullied and feels helpless it would be to speak up. I know that you may feel that you don’t want to be a burden to the ones you love but you’re not. Talking really does help and when people know about what is going on they can try to help resolve the situation before it gets out of hand.

When I was younger the internet was around but social media was not used as much as it is now so it was harder for bullies to get to me outside of school or when I was inside my house. Now, social media is everywhere and a part of everyday life and it is easier to get to someone.  It is never okay to for someone to write nasty things about you or for people to gang up on you and being young is no excuse.

I really do believe if we had more open and frank talks in school about bullying and the long term impact that can have on people I would have had a very different experience in school. It is important that we take charge and encourage open dialog between the victims and the people that can help.  Encouraging victims and showing them that it is not okay, they do not deserve it. On the back of that though I feel there needs to be things set up in schools that ensures all complaints are followed through on. My teachers disregarded my complaints even though it was a Church of England school that had a “zero Tolerance” policy.  Educating adults as well as young people is Key!

Unfortunately I have heard far too often that young girls have self- harmed or committed suicide as result of being bullied, either in school, online or both and this scares me! I was so lucky that I had my family but I still have scars that remind me every day of when I was at my lowest and it is a struggle. If having services available can prevent even just one girl from going through what I have been through that would make a huge difference.

There are a lot of good things to be said for social media but in some cases it can be toxic. The Children’s Society recently found that one in seven young girls says they’re unhappy with their lives. That’s why we need to make sure that any young person experiencing emotional distress has somewhere to turn. Join me and The Children’s Society in asking the Government to provide mental health support in all schools. Share this message with friends and make social media work for teenagers!

Some quotes from young girls that took part in the study:

One teenage girl said: “There are so many things that are difficult about being a young person. There are so many pressures from your friends, from your family. You don’t know who you are going to be, you are trying to find who you are in a certain way.”

Another said: “Girls feel pressured by the boys that they should look a particular way and that leads girls into depression or low self-esteem and makes girls feel ugly or worthless.”

“There is a lot of pressure to look good, you get called names no matter what, people always say stuff behind your back, boys always call you ugly if you have spots, or a slag if you wear makeup.”

Nobody should be made to feel like this. It is definitely not okay and having services available, I think, will make a huge difference.

BOOK TOUR and Q&A:Sometimes I Lie

Hello guys and gals welcome to my latest Book Blog Tour!!

Alice Feeney is releasing an amazing new novel called Sometimes I Lie.

I love finding new authors and books and I hope you enjoy finding out more about the author of this amazing new release.

Blog tour

Hi Alice

Thank you so much for doing this Interview with me. I am looking forward to reading your book and doing the Tour. The best thing about these kinds of interviews is getting to know the author. So the first few questions are just “getting to know you?”

  1. Where were you born?

  1. How many siblings do you have?

I’m an only child.

  1. Did you go to college/University?

Yes, it was fun!

  1. Where do you live now?

I live in a tiny Victorian house full of books in the Surrey countryside.

  1. Do you have any children?

No, just the dog! He is a black Labrador and his name is Diggi. He sits in the shed with me while I write and tells me when to take a break.

  1. What is your biggest fear?

My agent not liking my next book. I’m also terrified of people touching my eyes, so going to the opticians is always a little problematic, and feet – I really don’t like feet.

  1. What do you feel are your biggest accomplishments so far in your career and in your life?

This moment, right now! Sometimes I Lie will be published in the UK next week and in lots of different countries and languages around the world over the next 12 months. It’s all I’ve wanted for such a very long time and I could not be happier – I feel very grateful to everyone who has helped make this dream come true and very lucky indeed!

Now on to the bookish questions..

  1. What age did you start to write?

I wrote a book when I was six. It wasn’t very long, but I thought it was wonderful. It was written on pink paper and I think my Dad still has it.

  1. When did you know you wanted to be an author?

My parents would tell you that I’ve been telling stories since I was old enough to speak, so I think it’s probably been on the cards for a very long time.

  1. What urged you to pursue writing as a career?

I’ve been writing forever in one way or another. But when I turned 30, I decided I wanted to write a novel. It took me seven years to write one that someone wanted to publish, but it’s been worth all the rejection letters and hours spent writing in the shed – this is all I’ve ever wanted and I feel so incredibly lucky that my dreams are (finally) coming true!

  1. Did you do any research about what genre was popular before you started writing?

No, and I don’t recommend it. You have to write you want to write, you can’t worry about what’s popular. I always think it is best to try and write something that you would genuinely want to read.

  1. What is your favourite Genre to read?

Anything dark and twisty.

  1. What is your favourite Genre to write?

Anything dark and twisty.

  1. The age old question…do you ever get writers block? If so how do you overcome it?

Not really no, I think I’m very lucky like that – I literally love writing. Even when you have a bad day or the words aren’t quite right, you’re still getting to know your characters better. So, in my very humble opinion, no words are wasted, even if you end up deleting them all on the next draft.

There was one moment when I did have a tiny wobble with Sometimes I Lie. I wouldn’t describe it as writer’s block, I’d been sent some brilliant notes and I think I just didn’t know where to start! I looked outside and a bird that had been sitting in a tree flew right into the window. I ended up writing a scene about it. I learned two things that day:

  1. When horrible things happen, put them in your writing.
  2. Take your time, don’t fly too fast into things – it can kill you.
  1. What inspires you to write? Do you have to take notes?

Everything and everyone. You just have to open your eyes and ears to the world around you – there are stories everywhere if you know how to look and listen.

  1. I always ask this of authors and I am quite surprised at the response I get .. I am not a writer but when I get an idea of something to write (or draw) I have to do it there and then even if it is just a draft ( do i sound crazy?) Do you ever feel like that?

All the time! I drive my poor husband bonkers, scribbling things down in the middle of the night – I can’t help it though, I’m sure that’s when I have some of my best ideas!

  1. What is next for Alice Feeney??

Well, I’m incredibly lucky in that Sometimes I Lie is being published in lots of different countries, which involves a bit of travel and seeing all the different book covers – which is just so exciting! My first draft of my next book is complete and once I’ve finished editing I’ll be handing that in to my agent in June. I’m super excited that my next novel will be published in the UK by HarperCollins this time next year!

Thank you for the very interesting questions! I hope that you and your readers enjoy Sometimes I Lie!

MARCH WRAP UP: Why I have not been as active this month

So this month has been a weird one for me… I have had a few product reviews that I have done but not as many book reviews so I find that I have not been blogging as much.

I do feel a bit off my game this month in general though. I have missed out on twitter chats, I have recorded YouTube Videos and just not uploaded them!, I have drafted blog posts and just not finished them, I have barely read. I am not sure what is going on with me.

I do feel that sometimes in this community if you do go off the radar for a few weeks, few days even you do kinda get forgotten about and the engagement goes down. You have to be present and active all the time, which is difficult when you are just not feelin’ yourself.

One positive thing that came out of this month was finally meeting some bloggers in person that I have spent the last few month’s whatsapping and tweeting when I went to Blogcon in London in 18th March.

I enjoyed every bit of that weekend and I am already planning my 30th Birthday Weekend away there in October with my best friend for some shopping and more sight seeing. London is amazing.  If you ever get a chance to spend some time down there I would 100% recommend it.

If you would like to read some of my posts from this month I will link them down below and I will be posting a full review on where I stayed and my experience in the next week or so so keep an eye out for that.
